John-Peter Wilhite
Director of Partner Engagement
Bringing with him over 35 years of nonprofit experience, John-Peter is the Director of Partner Engagement. In his work with nonprofits, he has accumulated experience as both a staff and board member. He has also helped to found two nonprofits which still thrive today.
Prior to joining SVP Tucson, John-Peter served as the Director of Donor Relations at YWCA Southern Arizona. In this position he carried responsibility for donor retention and cultivation. As the Director of Community Impact for SVP Tucson, he will, in partnership with Ciara Garcia, apply the skills he developed in his previous work experience to increase partner membership and create additional opportunities to engage SVP Tucson’s partners.
In addition, John-Peter will utilize his professional skills as a trained public speaker and communication specialist to support the work of the SVP Tucson’s Partners and the nonprofits SVP serves. He earned an MA in Communication Studies from Texas State University and a BFA in Fashion and Art from Pratt Institute.
John-Peter calls Tucson home, having lived here for over 20 years. He is the primary caregiver for his mother who lives with him. He devotes some of his off time to support her. He is excited to work with an organization as innovative and forward-thinking as SVP Tucson.
